Logitech recently announced its new wireless keyboard and mouse combo which includes a cushioned palm rest and proprietary software that allows you to customize functions and navigation. We have reviewed Logitech products in the past and like those quality peripherals, the MK850 Performance doesn’t disappoint. Here’s a look at what you can expect from Logitech’s new wireless mouse and keyboard combo set.
Logitech MK850 Performance Keyboard and Mouse Combo
The Logitech MK850 combo can be paired with up to three different devices including Android, Chrome OS, iOS, Mac or Windows via Bluetooth. It comes with a USB Unifying receiver as well as a USB extender for different placement for better wireless performance. You can use devices up to 10 meters (approx. 33 feet) away from the computer. It allows easy switching between those different devices with the touch of a button with Easy-Switch technology. Also, the keys on the keyboard are re-mapped automatically depending on which device it’s connected to. This makes multitasking on various devices much easier so you can plow through your workflow. The keyboard requires 2 AAA batteries and the mouse just needs one AA battery. The company touts that the mouse battery life lasts up to two years and the keyboard batteries can last up to a whopping three years. Of course, your mileage may vary depending on your setup and usage. This also holds true on whether you decide to use the unifying USB receiver on a computer or a Bluetooth connection on a mobile device or computer. The mouse included in this combo set is actually the M720 Triathlon. It’s comfortable, responsive, and accurate when hitting onscreen targets. It includes three buttons on the left side one of which is for switching between devices and a gestures button. The scroll wheel allows you to scroll left and right on a screen and with the companion software you can designate what each button does.
The keyboard is quite comfortable and has an ergonomic contour with a slightly raised profile in the middle. I liked the subtle curve versus other “comfort” keyboards that have ridiculous waves and curves that make typing uncomfortable. The wrist rest is soft and well cushioned and allows for multiple hours of typing with ease. There are three buttons to the right of the Function keys that let you switch it between devices it’s connected to. There is also the availability of multiple tilt angles for the keyboard which includes 0, 4, and 8 degrees.
Another one of the interesting features of the MK850 is what the company calls “DuoLink”. It lets you create different sets of actions when you hold down the Fn key on the keyboard. It also supports the ability to perform gesture controlled actions.
This feature requires that you install Logitech Options software* (Mac users can download the software here), and it does take a bit of getting used to. But once you do, you’ll find it to be helpful when using Windows 10. The Logitech Options software presents both the keyboard and mouse, battery levels and connection method (Bluetooth or Unifying receiver). It also lets you assign actions for the mouse and keyboard and custom settings for specific applications.

If you’re looking for a new wireless mouse and keyboard that helps you improve your workflow, the MK850 Performance combo is a set that should definitely be considered. *Logitech Options runs a few background processes: LogiOptionsMgr.exe and LogiOptions.exe (UNICODE). These are essential for the keyboard/mouse and are not malware. sadly Brian Burgess “You should be able to configure” is not an answer and certainly one of the worst you could have proferred or published .. find out how .. offer guidance and an answer Brian !!
