What is Apple Fitness+ Plus?

As previously noted, Fitness+ is a paid service that offers a catalog of workouts across various categories. Metrics like heart rate and calories burned are kept via your Apple Watch. When a workout is complete, the information gets added to your daily activity data. In other words, Apple Fitness+ provides yet another way to close your rings! You can watch the videos through iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. You’ll need an Apple Watch Series 3 or later to use the service. On the software side, your devices must be using iOS 14.3, watchOS 7.2, iPadOS 14.3, and tvOS 14.3. On every device except iPad, Fitness+ automatically installs on your devices with the required updates. You must manually download the free Apple Fitness+ for iPad app from the App Store.

Installing Apple Fitness+ on iPad, Subscribing to Service

You can find the official Fitness+ app on the App Store on iPad and install it just as you would any other app. Once the app gets installed, you’re ready to go. If you haven’t yet done so, you can subscribe to Fitness+ directly from your tablet by following these directions: On the workout page, you can tap Preview to see a short clip of the exercise routine and to make sure you’re okay with the playlist provided. Each workout page in the Fitness+ app contains the music playlist, when applicable. You can listen to each song in the workout directly from this page. Before starting a workout, you can change the metrics that you’ll see. To do so: As Apple explains:

Metrics: You can display your workout time, heart rate, and calories burned in the upper left as you workout. Your Activity Rings progress also appears in the upper right.Time: You can choose whether to show how much time has elapsed in your workout, how much time is remaining, or turn off time.Burn Bar: The Burn Bar is a way for you to compare your effort to others who’ve done the same workout. It adjusts to account for weight to allow for an equal comparison and is shown as your calories burned. If you leave it on, your workout data is anonymously added to the Burn Bar competition. The Burn Bar is available for High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Treadmill, Cycling, and Rowing workouts.

Fitness+ is priced at $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year. Those using an Apple Family plan can share membership with up to six family members. To encourage sampling, existing Apple Watch users receive a free month of Fitness+; new Apple Watch buyers receive three months for free. A $29.95 per month Apple One Premier membership includes Fitness+. You also get Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and 2TB of iCloud storage at this membership level. At launch, Fitness+ is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, with other countries and regions being added soon. Except for an Apple Watch, special equipment isn’t required to use Fitness+. However, Apple is already highlighting a curated selection of fitness accessories on its website; some are used in the fitness videos. One should expect this list to grow significantly over time.
