What is the Meet Now Button?
The Meet Now button came with cumulative update KB4580364 for Windows 10 version 2004 May 2020 Update and version 20H2 October 2020 Update. It is part of Skype and allows you to invite both Skype contacts and friends or family to a meeting. Whether they have a Skype account or not. But you might not need it. And would rather it disappear so you can clear up some room on the taskbar. Getting rid of it is simple. Here is a look at a couple of ways to do it.
Remove the Meet Now Button on Windows 10
The dead simplest way to get rid of the Meet Now button on the taskbar is to right-click it and select Hide. That’s all it takes. The Meet Now icon will disappear from the notification area of the taskbar.
The other way to turn it off (and re-enable it if you want to use it after hiding it) is through Settings. Hit the Windows key and click Settings from the Start menu or simply use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + I if you are a keyboard warrior.
Now click on Personalization from the Home page of the Settings app.
From the Personalization section click on Taskbar from the menu in the left panel. Then scroll down on the right side of the screen to the “Notification area” section and click on the “Turn system icons on or off” link.
Next, on the “Turn system icons on or off” page, you will see a lengthy list of items you can enable or disable on the taskbar. Scroll down and toggle the “Meet Now” button on or off. Depending on if you want the icon to show up or not.
That’s all there is to it. Now you know how to remove or enable the Meet Now button on the taskbar on Windows 10.
